Hi guys! Just thought i'll explain the significance of my blog address, arcadianstag.
The Arcadian Stag comes from Greek mythology, and is the focus of the 3rd Labour of Hercules. Hercules was told that if he would serve Eurystheus for twelve years he would become immortal; accordingly he bound himself to the Argive king, who imposed upon him twelve tasks of great difficulty and danger:
(1) To slay the Nemean lion. (2) To kill the Lernean hydra. (3) To catch and retain the Arcadian stag. (4) To destroy the Erymanthian boar. (5) To cleanse the stables of King Augeas. (6) To destroy the cannibal birds of the Lake Stymphalis. (7) To take captive the Cretan bull. (8) To catch the horses of the Thracian Diomedes. (9) To get possession of the girdle of Hippolyte, Queen of the Amazons. (10) To take captive the oxen of the monster Geryon. (11) To get possession of the apples of the Hesperides. (12) To bring up from the infernal regions the three-headed dog Cerberos.
Eurystheus commanded Hercules to capture the Arcadian stag, a magnificent beast with antlers of gold and hoofs of brass. Its speed was far beyond that of the swiftest beast known. Another thing that hampered his quest was that the Arcadian stag was the favourite pet of Artemis, who would not be happy if the animal was hurt. Hercules pursued it in vain for a year before he succeeded in inflicting a slight wound. Thus handicapped, the stag was captured by Hercules. While carrying it back to Eurystheus, he met Artemis, who was enraged at him. But when he explained the situation to her, she forgave him and allowed him to continue his journey.
I don't relate to the Arcadian stag or anything, but i think it's a pretty cool story =) The hoofs of brass might be the same weight as my Adidas Barricade IVs though. *clomp clomp* Hahah. They're great shoes, really comfortable, just HEAVY!!!!
Starting tennis intermediate classes at CCK stadium tomorrow! Yay!
